Amenities
Lantis Spring Campground is a pristine stretch of land, located on the Custer Gallatin National Forest in the southeast corner of Montana, right on the border of South Dakota. The campground covers six acres and sits at a crisp elevation of 6,000 feet. Unique rock formations and tall, golden grass make this a serene escape from the noise of everyday life. Due to its secluded location and small number of campsites, this campground is also an ideal destination for those looking to see bright, unobstructed views of the cosmos. It’s even earned a Class-1 rating on the Bortle Scale, which is only given to locations considered excellent dark-sky sites.
There are five campsites available at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. Camping up to 14 days is permitted and a vault toilet is available. There is a beautiful spring (non-potable) to relax by, as well as picnic tables. You can even bring your furry friends—but be sure to keep them on a leash.
