Amenities
Hole In The Wall State Recreation Area is located in northeast Montana far enough from any small towns that light pollution is nonexistent, and stargazing is excellent. At an elevation of 2,500 feet, the recreation area encompasses 29 acres of land on the Missouri River where fishing and hunting can be enjoyed by day.
NOTE: The site is accessed by boat only. Pets are welcome. There are 5 tent campsites, two three-sided log shelters, fire rings and restrooms. Camping is first-come, first-served.
Planning on getting out on the water? Find an extensive boaters' guide for the Upper Missouri River Breaks here. A popular Missouri River float trip is through the White Cliffs, beginning at Coal Banks Landing. There are primitive campgrounds along the way, including Eagle Creek, Hole in the Wall and Lewis & Clark Camp. Close out the trip at Judith Landing, which also has a campground.
